Reflection on Career Exploration

On the 27th of November 2019, we had been instructed to gather at Dewan Kuliah, CTF 2 at 2.15 pm for a Career Talk.

In this talk, 3 panelists were invited to share with us a little bit of their university life and how they access their studies to achieve their success as they stand right now.

The points that I managed to highlight in order to achieve success are:

Respect lecturers like how you respect your parents
Set your goal and give all your commitment to achieving the desired goal
Do not give up if you face failure.
Passion and Patience.
Always ask your friends or lecturers regarding some uncertain topic that you learn.
Communication skill. Improve communication skill by joining program or university activities as developing in communication
Join activities not only academically but also acts on another program such as volunteerism to gain more experiences.
Control your manner will stabilize academic performance and communication skills.
Be responsible.

Conclusion, communication skill is a key for success in university and also in our daily routine. I acknowledge that I am not quite someone who really good at communication and sometimes being introvert. Therefore, I am determined to improve my communication skills and boost my confidence in the presentation by practicing repeatedly. Do not give up.

Activities that we join in the university are very important for us to make our resume more interested. When joining many activities, the more you can list down on your resume for a job later, the more chances you receive by the expectation in you are an active student in university. Therefore, It will give a good impression on the future company’s employer.

It was a great talk as it helps me to boost and prepare for what action I should take from now on to achieve my goal from this university which is to graduate and able to be a future Human resources development as I wish to!

Reflection on Meeting Faculty Members

Around past November 2019, we have been given an exposed place where all information was stored in one and to access more information, especially for student undergraduates and postgraduates, which is the Center for Academic Information Services (CAIS). During the class, our lecturer (Dr. Ida ) has invited with honor from one of the CAIS staff to brief the facilities provided by CAIS.

During the presentation session, the staff showed us various ways to search for resources (books, journal articles, newspapers) available in the library. It is convenient to look up the printed or online resources through the online website: http://www.cais.unimas.my/.

For further information resources available in CAIS, we simply have to enter the book's title at the CAIS OneSearch section. For online resources, we can surf the articles, e-books, and others by clicking and entering on the ‘online resources.’ Then, We have to sign in using our unimas id and password to access all the E-database.

The presentation is fascinating as I was able to absorb many benefits of using the CAIS websites. It helps me search for books easily, but it also supports me to easily search for reliable references to do my assignments for my courses. CAIS has provided many facilities for UNIMAS students to gain knowledge and experience.

I hope from the CAIS staff CAIS staff's presentation. I can easily complete my assignments, spend my study time more wisely in CAIS, and will not waste the opportunity to use all the facilities provided.

Academic Writing

From my view of academic writing, I absorb the skills required for academic writing, at some point in our writing on an academic paper, whether it is a report, essay, dissertation, or thesis. It is important to know some skills to learn to write it properly. Without learning academic writing skills, I may feel anxiety. The skills that I learned included time management, research, knowing your audience, Organizing, writing clearly & consistently, and using grammar, punctuation & spelling.

I learned that time management is vital whether the deadline is in a week, month, or even a year. I have to plan and allocate sufficient time to my research, outlining, writing, and editing. As research, for academic writing such as reports, it is impossible to write without exploring research information. That means you’ll need to know what sources are trusted and citations are the proof as it is. In academic writing, It is also important to be knowing your audience. When writing academic writing, I need to think as a who read of the other writer and tailor the argument writing style to impressed the reader. As for organizing, It is important to organize your writing skills to understand better what message you want the reader to receive. It is important for us to compelling a well-written document followed by a similar format as an included introduction, discussion, and reflection to make sure no repeating information. I also learn to write clear and consistent content. Keep in mind that when writing is straightforward and clear. No necessary additional information if it supports your writing arguments and lasts using correct grammar punctuation and spelling error before submitting it
